We conduct between 80-100 auctions annually and serve clients within a two-hour radius of Salem, VA. While most of our work is within one hour of Salem, VA, the ideal candidate must be willing to travel daily within the greater service area. Distances traveled may range from local travel to hundreds of miles with overnight stays. Weekend hours are required from time to time.

Our cataloging professionals are involved with discovering valuable items for our clients, arranging them into appropriate groups based on value, crafting proper descriptions for the online catalog and photographing the items in a professional manner. Related activities involving hosting auction previews and assisting clients with picking up their items will also be required. General product knowledge of antiques and collectibles, and specialized knowledge of other categories of items (silver, coins, jewelry, furnishings, rugs, glassware, toys, etc.) is preferred, but not required. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 55 per week

Internships

Unpaid internships are available for undergraduate and graduate students who are looking to earn academic credit as well as students seeking professional experience, but who do not wish to receive credit.  We offer a Cataloging Internship and a Digital/Photography Internship in the fall and spring terms. Interns are afforded a unique hands-on experience in the exciting and fast-paced auction house environment.  

Successful candidates will be self-starters with attention to detail and experience in any of the following fields: art or design history, material culture, history, graphic design, and the history of decorative arts.
