Experience a new holiday tradition as local businesses, artists, and nonprofits showcase their creativity through a festive door decorating competition at the Roanoke History & O. Winston Link Museums. Eleven out of 27 total participants will be auctioned through Farmer/Entrusted to benefit the Roanoke History & O. Winston Link Museums educational programming.
The Deck the Doors exhibition will be on view in the lobby of the Historic Norfolk & Western Passenger Station from November 29, 2025, through January 4, 2026, and is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm, and Sunday 11am-3pm. You can stroll through the display of 27 festive doors, and vote for your favorite with a donation to the museum.
The door that brings in the most money by January 4 gets the People’s Choice Award, along with a $100 gift card to Black Dog Salvage. Every $10 vote gets an entry into a drawing for a one-night stay at the Promissory Hotel in Downtown Roanoke. Eleven of these, or elements decorating the doors, will be up for auction between December 4 and December 18, 2025. All proceeds from voting and the auction benefit the Roanoke History & O. Winston Link Museums.
Removal of won items will be the week January 5-9, 2026, and is flexible as long as it is pre-arranged with museums.
