One owner collection of model trains in HO, O, and G scales, vintage pressed steel trucks and 100’s of newer diecast trucks and cars, plastic model kits including many 1970s tractor trailer trucks. The majority of the collection is still in the original boxes.

Step back in time with this remarkable estate in historic Lansing, West Virginia. The home is so expansive—and filled with such an extraordinary array of treasures—that its contents are being presented across two separate auctions. Truly a virtual museum, this collection offers timeless pieces rarely seen outside private collections.
Highlights include beautifully crafted poplar wood store displays from The Greenbrier Resort, dating to the early 1900s, elegant 1840s sofas, and a rare Rand McNally roll-front railroad ticket case.
This estate also boasts extensive collections of art glass, featuring Uranium Glass, Carnival Glass, and striking Slag Glass table lamps. Additional categories include concrete planters and statuary, as well as an exceptional, year-round assortment of holiday décor—most notably a stunning selection of vintage Christmas pieces perfect for getting ahead of next year’s decorating.

Experience a new holiday tradition as local businesses, artists, and nonprofits showcase their creativity through a festive door decorating competition at the Roanoke History & O. Winston Link Museums. Eleven out of 27 total participants will be auctioned through Farmer/Entrusted to benefit the Roanoke History & O. Winston Link Museums educational programming.
The Deck the Doors exhibition will be on view in the lobby of the Historic Norfolk & Western Passenger Station from November 29, 2025, through January 4, 2026, and is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm, and Sunday 11am-3pm. You can stroll through the display of 27 festive doors, and vote for your favorite with a donation to the museum.
The door that brings in the most money by January 4 gets the People’s Choice Award, along with a $100 gift card to Black Dog Salvage. Every $10 vote gets an entry into a drawing for a one-night stay at the Promissory Hotel in Downtown Roanoke. Eleven of these, or elements decorating the doors, will be up for auction between December 4 and December 18, 2025. All proceeds from voting and the auction benefit the Roanoke History & O. Winston Link Museums.
Removal of won items will be the week January 5-9, 2026, and is flexible as long as it is pre-arranged with museums.
The Historical Society of Western Virginia, which operates the Roanoke History & O. Winston Link Museums, began in 1957 out of Roanoke's Diamond Jubilee. It is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, educating, and celebrating the unique cultural material heritage of Southwestern Virginia through educational kids programming, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, publications, and much more.
