Mr. and Mrs. Akers were well know members of the Wytheville Community. The house containing these wonderful items is on the local historic registry. 

Mrs. Akers was the longest, continuous attending member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she served in multiple roles and on the Altar Guild many, many years. 

Mr. Akers served in the US Navy. He was a Master Electrician with I.B.E.W. #637 of Roanoke and former Electrical Maintenance Supervisor at the Radford Ammunition Plant. He was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where he served as Trustee, member of the Vestry and was Treasurer. He was a member of MENSA; member of Masonic Lodge No. 82 and Odd Fellows Lodge.

 Mrs. Settle was a beloved member of the Fayetteville community. She led a most amazing life. She was one of the first five women ever admitted to Virginia Tech. While attending college, she worked for the U.S. Army in a civilian capacity during World War II, making topographic maps. She was an avid collector of antiques, and was the owner of Cracker Barrel Antiques of Fayetteville. Edna was also a member of the Red Hat Society, the Beckley Art Club and was an esteemed member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society.  A collection of her works are featured in this auction.
