We are pleased to present the Harkness Collection of Riner, VA.

Mr. Harkness so loved the mountains that surround him that he commissioned a local artist, Charlie Brouwer to custom design a coffee table that would represent the beauty around him. We believe this to be one of few examples of Charlie Brouwer's work in furniture.  A triptych titled "October View" on the Blue Ridge Parkway by local Floyd County photographer William Bell is also equally stunning. Mrs. Harkness shared the story of her young father at the age of 18 clerking an auction for a wealthy Englishman. Rumor had it he was the family outcast, he asked her father to pick out anything in house for payment for his help. He chose this most elegant china made by George Jones & Sons in the mid 1800s. Later in life his wife convinced him to share a few pieces with his sisters so it isn't the full set, priceless and beautiful none the less. Also included are several pieces of art from the U. S. and abroad.

Rounding out the collection is a Cub Cadet Zero turn mower with 150 hours with top maintenance. John Deere Gator with 45 hours in excellent condition. Lots of outside yard tools, Snowblower, Several lots of specialty & every day tools, Motorcycle trailer, Craftsman rolling tool chest, Davis Weather station, Belfast Riding Jacket, 1:43 scale collectible cars. Tansu style chest, Radio Flyer Wagon, Sterling Flatware, Aynsley desert setting for 12, outdoor furniture, composter, Ethan Allen Hitchcock style console table, work bench with grinder and vise. Beautiful pottery and so much more.
